LOCAL POLICE TEAM - No representative present. Since their last reorganisation we have not had any representation at our meeting and there are fewer observed street patrols. There were no known incidents in the last month although scrap copper tubing had been stolen from Robins & Day. John A urged everybody to be extra vigilant over the Christmas period and to break up any large boxes which had contained presents before disposing of them; also do not overlook home security when "popping next door".
COUNCILLOR JOHN BLUNDELL - The next Wainbody Ward Forum is on 13th December at St Joseph the Worker, 7pm–9pm. Tesco will be the main item on the agenda although other items will also be discussed. John B has spoken to the new Chief Superintendent of Police in Coventry, Andy Nicholson. They are going through a further reorganisation in order to utilise their resources better. Neighbourhood policing will continue. Chace and Foleshill Road stations will be open 10am-6pm; between 6pm and 10am there will be no walk in access although it will be possible to speak to an officer by external 'phone. Little Park Street will be open 24/7. John B will mention to Andy Nicholson no Police presence at our meetings. Parking at the Memorial Park is not the issue it was 12 months ago as Severn Trent staff concession had run out. Members are still concerned about the unfenced sand play area in the Memorial Park, Syd Feegrade had reported there was no issue with excrement in the sand.
TREASURER'S REPORT - A new printer cartridge had cost ££42 and we still have some room hire costs to meet. Money in bank and cash now amounts to £247.05. The amount of money needed to run the Association for a year is approximately £350.
ANY OTHER BUSINESS - John A confirmed Robins & Day now demolished after a couple of incidents - a sewer was broken and asbestos was discovered. All employees of R & D had been accommodated at Holbrooks. On Saturday 10th December there is a Christmas Fayre at St Martin in the Fields in aid of Marie Curie appeal. A resident asked (1) if we will be collecting subscriptions in 2012 - Yes, although there are 750 houses on the estate and we had been unable to collect subscriptions last summer due to lack of volunteers; (2) Who checks the accuracy of the Minutes - John A as Chairman has final say as to what is printed and (3) Is there going to be any change in frequency of bus services on the Grange. All bus services for city are under review and no changes will be made before February 2012. John A advised that in 2012 the June meeting would be on 14th June and would therefore be close to the July meeting - should we have a garden party on the green. This is food for thought. The meeting closed with the raffle and some Christmas "nibbles".
DATE OF NEXT MEETING - Thursday, 2nd February 2012.
